It was established in the year 1991. It is registered under the Public Trust Act, with Charity commissioner, and is affiliated to the National Council of YMCAs of India. Gandhidham YMCA is a recognized agency of the Govt. of Gujarat. The Board of Directors of YMCA Gandhidham consists of a dedicated group of people from Govt. Semi Govt. offices, Professionals, Entrepreneurs and Social workers.

YMCA Gandhidham forms a part of a World-wide fraternity of YMCAs spread all over the Globe. In India alone there are over 550 affiliated YMCAs. In India the Headquarters is at Delhi, known as the National Council of YMCAs of India, which again forms a part of the Asian Alliance of YMCAs, situated at Hong Kong, which is again a part of the World Alliance of YMCAs with its headquarters at Geneva, Switzerland.
